Economy supported by illegal immigrants which most Texans want to eliminate. Hardly what I would call slaying.

Why? Virginia has a great education system and their economy is one of the best in the country.
This list isn't about what state or main city brings attraction, but rather their place as far as a good standard of living is concerned.

Utah seems too meh, and NC is questionable too. Still where I live is just too boring I wouldn't mind living in even either of those

Seems like the NYC Metro Region (NY, NJ, Mass, Conn, etc) is slaying this list as usual. We have everything here: urbanized cities, mountains and nature, clean and accessible drinking water, modern infrastructure, the best economy in the US and most important financial center in the world, incredible diversity, and some of the best schools in the world (MIT, Harvard, Yale, Columbia, NYU, Parsons, Pratt, SVA, Cooper Union, and so on).
The only major downside is cost of living, but there is plenty of affordable housing options in suburbs with ready access to public transportation and safe sidewalks.

Colorado, hands down. Beautiful nature, enjoyable climate, and legal THC. And it's so underrated and low key compared to popular tourist hubs like new York and California.
Going on a road trip from tx to Colorado for my bday

I'm guessing because it has the strongest economy (at the moment) and a very low crime rate. That climate is not the tea though

4. New Jersey
Way more diverse than the states above it and you got NYC and Philly on the border. The true winner here

Nice to see NJ in a good light. Their crime rates have gone down this year too.
