I hate u, i love u sounds like those Youtubers collaborations and I agree with what you wrote. gnash's vocal tone is lazy and I see him as another, cheaper, version of G-Eazy for some reason.
I understand the hate for
7 Years but I don't really mind the song nor have I listened to it that much. I think that old people will relate to it more.
Roses and
Don't Let Me Down are The Chainsmokers' peak in my opinion.
Closer sounds very basic and I don't see the appeal. Their follow-up
All We Know even sounds like a rehash of
Closer and some of their previous works, so I stopped checking them out.
