I'm pretty sure 90% of people who say it are joking/being petty, and the other 10% are weirdos who believe industry illuminati and sacrifices.
I didn't know she was the pilot on the plane

A heated argument about the weight of equipment erupted between the pilot of the plane carrying singer Aaliyah and her video crew minutes before their tragic Bahamas crash, sources told The New York Post Sunday.
The pilot, who thought the plane was being dangerously overloaded, gave in, according to veteran Bahamian charter pilot Lewis Key, who said he overheard the dispute just before the plane took off and then crashed, killing all aboard.
The pilot of the plane carrying Aaliyah and seven others from the Bahamas to Florida Saturday pleaded no contest to cocaine possession less than two weeks before the fatal crash and was not authorized to fly the craft.
The pilot of the small plane that crashed in the Bahamas last year, killing the 22-year-old singer and actress Aaliyah and eight others, had traces of cocaine and alcohol in his body, aviation officials said today.
An autopsy performed on the body of the pilot, Luis Antonio Morales, revealed cocaine in his urine and traces of alcohol in his stomach, the Bahamas Department of Civil Aviation said in a statement.
The pilot shouldn't have been piloting to begin with, as he was suspended from being a pilot for having cocaine weeks prior, AND had cocaine / was under the influence at the time of the flight. Had he not been there like he was suppose to, then a different airplane would've been used to begin with. It's his fault.
& ofcourse -- when an airline is found to have a pilot who is suspended flying a plane that crashed, you're gonna hear them spinning a story to get out of taking full responsiblity.
And Aaliyah's brother already said she was scared of flying planes at times, and had a thing about them.
If the pilot told her it was overfilled and could crash, she would certainly not force him to pilot anyway. If that 'discussion' the airline claimed happened, then she obviously wasn't involved.
And I doubt the discussion happened, because whether you're afraid of flying or not WHO is going to force themself on a plane where the pilot is telling you himself, it could crash. Like wtf That doesn't even make sense that a pilot would tell someone it could crash and they're still forcing him to let them get on.
