Formation was big culturally but he's right that it's not a pop smash.
In fact Hold Up + Sorry + Formation are lucky to have the peaks they do, they only lasted for 1 week before plummeting essentially because Lemonade was held back on iTunes.
The way Beyoncé is perceived as a semi god and yet doesn't quite get played on radio should tell you everything you need to know about her "hit singles".
In France, I've never heard Formation on the radio. Sorry like a very few times, and Hold Up got a fair share of airplay but still wasn't a very prominent song.
To be fair, Rihanna had Work and especially TWYCF, but every other singles bombed.

I have literally never heard any Beyoncé song on the radio, anyone playing one in public or even anyone talking about it. In the US, the singles had terrible longevity and elsewhere they all flopped from the get go. I can't understand how someone can say she has smash singles that are well known when it's not true....
She may not have sat atop the chart echelon (mostly cus shes too headstrong to play industry ball) but her music remained ubiquitous regardless. I dont even live in the US yet "Becky with the good hair" was a thing here, let alone Formation.
The mashup is composed exclusively of chart hits so i cant be mad at the DJ.
