As much as it saddens me to see Jazzy having to make this decision, she's doing it for herself! It's her life, her career, and her talent. If she's not happy with the way things are going she has every right to take a step back and figure stuff out. There's bound to be someone at another label who would snatch her up in a heartbeat the moment she was ready to return... that is if she leaves her current label. They'll likely drop her if she's not going to be putting anything out. Perhaps Mary J. could sign her to Matriarch records?
You know, with all the Lauryn Hill comparisons Jazzy has had, I'm starting to see a similar trend once again. Lauryn left for a long time and her album became a classic. I'm not saying that'll happen with Jazzy, but maybe in the time she spends away people will realize how great her music is. I don't think it has anything to do with the performance of her latest album, I think it has to do with what she feels in her heart, and she knows what she has to do to fix the problem.
Now, as for the way Sony and J Records handled her promotion, etc.
