And what about Lavender Brown? We were "used to" seeing her as being black until HBP where they cast white actress Jessie Cave to play her instead. Didn't see anyone up in arms about that change - I wonder why?

Uh...no I don't. JK never said that Hermione was black, nor did she say she was white. All she's said is that she approves of the new Hermione being played by a black actress and has no problem with that, simply reiterating the point that she never stated her colour. And if you're referring to Fantastic Beasts, there's already a black woman as one of the leading characters.
Seems like Voldemort's recruited some new Death Eaters!
