Avatar The Last Airbender. I think it did the most it could given the platform it was on, and it taught kids (and myself when I watched it when it first aired) so many life lessons. Iroh's wisdom alone made that show and then it was just made greater by how amazing the character development was. The way they make you truly feel sorry for Zuko even though he's a lil b**** shows how amazing the writing is. Toph is also one of the most badass chicks to grace the silver screen.
