Circus was a bit messy but does have AMAZING produced songs. Femme Fatale is just pop perfection for me, one of the best produced pop albums in a very long time. Every song was single worthy!

The whole album is not underrated. Britney and her team learned that will.i.am is a horrible producer.

However, when it comes to the songs, I think "Hold on Tight" is underrated and that "Alien" is overrated (though it's a good song).

In the context of other singers, it'd perfectly servicable. It'd be a good Demi Lovato album for example, but for Britney it's bottom of the barrel sh!t, especially when she released Femme Fatale prior/came off the back of her biggest hit in years.

I don't like automatically calling an album that didn't get a good reception "underrated" but I will say many of the things surrounding Britney (truth and rumors) since her comeback, the fact it wasn't an "era" and that many never let the album grow on them, something unusual for Britney who always release immediately gratifying material. Well, all in all, everything snowballed and created the illusion Britney Jean was a catastrophic album. No matter what everyone said, the music itself was, for the most part, different than what she usually does and such a departure is bound to create a chasm.

Ironically, I think it was the most "Britney" Britney we got in 12 years, with a modern nod to her first three albums ("Till It's Gone", "Chillin With You" & "Tik Tik Boom") and the inclusion of these elusive personal ballads you can only find in demo forms ("Just Yesteday", "Let Go" & "Everyday", for example) but that never get on any official albums. Many of the songs give a good insight on who she is now so it might not be the dark and juicy stuff people wanted to know but it was what SHE wanted you to know.
