Oceania is NawT a continent. Australia is but New Zealand is not apart of it, we are part of Zealandia. But both Australia & New Zealand are apart of the regions Oceania & Australasia
I'm from australia and I was taught continents large land masses such as north america, europe and Africa so Australia is the continent as the rest of the region (New Zealand etc) is too small to be known as a continent but are apart of the region of Oceania?? Anyway who cares the pacific islands are only home to like 10 people and New Zealand is practically a state of Australia anyway
It does not depend on what you were taught!!! If you were taught that the earth is flat it does NOT mean that is correct.
A "continent" has its definition and that is what we follow , not what YOU were taught.
This is like the metric vs. english measurement system, none of them are wrong and it DOES depend on where you live and how they teach you. Take a chill pill, tbh
Australia = Island (I don't consider it as a continent because there's only one country on it).
Oceania = Australia + New Zealand + other smaller islands around.
Australasia = I never use this term.
There're two definitions of continent with two different words in my country.
Australia if base on tectonic plate/land mass
Oceania if base on enviroment, history, culture, economy, etc...
