I don't think she is basic tho, I can name a few that are basic but I'm just going give their heart a bit of a break
Her sound, her imagery, her performances and even personality is just never that exciting. She never pushes boundaries, its all quite safe and sugary. Pretty simple really

What are the other generic songs then, because all of the other songs at least borrow from other genres and aren't just strickly pop. Just because a song is catchy doesn't mean its generic.
That dosen't make Katy basic.
