Well, I gues that's goes to the personal taste subject, because I find Kimbra's songs boring, videos boring, persona boring. For me she's a bootleg St. Vincent with half as potential.

Um, every single song on Born To Die has Lana and someone else. Every single one. Kimbra wrote five tracks entirely by herself, something Lana didn't do on Born To Die.
Not to mention she produces and composes, something Lana doesn't do.
Lana can't sing half as well as Kimbra, let's not.

what kind of mess I love Lana, but she has co-writers on every single one of her tracks as well, don't start that. She does NOT make all her own music videos. That's why there are things called directors and a whole crew... She made a few herself with old clips she found, but that doesn't compare to a video like Born to Die which she certainly can't be fully credited for. And modeling is hardly a talent...

I am a bigger fan of Lana, something about her and her music I really like, but I don't believe she herself is more talented than kimbra. Kimbra is a better singer and performer. She's also naturally gorgeous and her music videos have just as much to say as Lana's. The only debatable aspect is song writing. And Settle Down's lyrics are pretty damn spectacular in my opinion.

Not they didn't. Most of the tracks off Born To Die were per-written before she even got signed. Not to mention the countless praise she got prior to going "mainstream" and VG rated one of the best songs of 2011 by critics. (A song she wrote on her own).

But can you name someone current doing the same sound as Lana? Yes, she's giving a new spin on a "old sound", that's what makes her interesting. And you can say whatever you want about her live performances, but her she's a fantastic songwriter.
