I watched it, and y'know what? I liked it. It's nothing groundbreaking but it was a cute, funny movie that served it's purpose well. Plus, I loved the sly little bits of innuendo they snuck in.

All the publications I've been reading say that it'll be a tight race for #1 between Smurfs and Cowboiz.

1 THE SMURFS $13,300,000
2 COWBOYS & ALIENS $12,994,000
3 CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER $7,860,000
4 HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS PART 2 $6,625,000
5 CRAZY, STUPID, LOVE $6,600,000


The fact that Smurfs outgrossed C&A on a FRIDAY (usually a low box-office day for children's film) doesn't bode well for Cowboys and Aliens at all. The Smurfs will probably see an increase today and Sunday, and Cowboizes will probably see a decrease. There's no way Smurfs is opening below Captain PowerTop, not after grossing almost $5Mill more on Friday.

I think the real tragedy is CSL only getting $7Mill on Friday. Word of mouth better carry this movie to $100Mill final BO.

A friend of mine took her kids - they hated it. It does have rotten reviews on rottentomatoes. Not surprised. The director is the same as the Scooby Doo movie and we know how that turned out.

This kinda reminds me of the Jetsons movie.

They went about this the wrong way IMO. I know they want to appeal to kids but most people who loved and grew up with the Smurfs are adults now and they should have made a raunchy r -rated movie.
