Changes include: No more Redemption Island, everyone living in the same camp, Probst-less DIY challenges, inability to use hidden immunity on yourself.
A little person, a gay Republican, and not one but two men obsessed with Tarzan are among the 18 new contestants vying for a million dollars when Survivor: One World premieres Feb. 15 on CBS. It is a season filled not only with entirely new contestants, but several format changes as well.
No Redemption Island: Though Redemption Island will be absent this season, Reward Challenges are back in.
You Can't Use Hidden Immunity Idols on Yourself: When you find the idol, you can’t use it for yourself. You have to give it to someone from the other tribe.
"Do-It-Yourself" Challenges: Certain challenges would require the contestants to run the challenge themselves, with no host overseeing them.
Everyone in One Camp: This will be the first time two separate tribes have cohabitated for an extended period of time.
Battle of the Sexes: The season will also mark a return to the battle of the sexes format of Survivor: The Amazon and Survivor: Vanuatu.

This is my first time watching a current season of Survivor while it's airing. I have a question:
Quote:
Probst on gay republican villain Colton:
“He doesn’t know it, but he is a full-on villain. He thinks he’s the most charming guy ever. He’s a devil and I don’t even think he’s disguised.”
|
What does he mean by "Villain"? Is this another Heroes vs. Villain season, or was he just calling him that?

I'm so glad Reward challenges are coming back!
The new rule on hidden immunity idols is going to be interesting

No. Heroes vs Villains was just a theme for that season, but usually in every season, there's always a person who betrays, is not loyal and doesn't care abour hurting people, just winning, they are "villains", and there are the ones who want to play with honor, integrity, loyalty, etc.

Oh, so they're just labeling him as a villain of the season, there is no "secret task" that the villain has to perform?

Exactly, everyone is labeled depending on how they perform on their season. I'm guessing since Jeff is already calling Colton a villain, he's going to make it at least to the merge.

You *****s. I'm happy that reward challenges are back because there will literally be more challenges every episode. And wow at the new rule on the immunity idol, I guess they changed it because everyone can now know everything that's happening on the other tribe. Its like a merged tribe on day one, so excited for this season!

Yes! I'm so excited! I love Survivor, been watching since Season 2!
These last two seasons have been absolutely awful, so thank god Redemption Island is gone and there are no returning castaways. Reward challenges are back, yay!
I think the one beach two tribes thing will be good, I always want the maximum drama possible and I think this'll twist will encourage that!
Also, the cast looks like a bunch of dumb hot models, which is fantastic. Last season there were almost no hot people (except Elyse, who went too early). This season, except for that one older girl, pretty much every single chick is looking like

Watching previous seasons like Guatemala, Palau and Gabon made me realize how good Survivor use to be. I liked how back in Guatemala all though there were returning players they didn't make it a huge "Steph vs. Bobby John" fest. Then Gabon and Palau were just great seasons! I hope this season is better than the past few because right now I think the last great season was Fans vs. Favourites.
