Not Madonna. It's probably Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, Mick Jagger, Bruce Springsteen, and maybe Prince. Male veterans are more respected than female veterans, especially female pop veterans. Just the way it goes unfortunately, although the above artists are all much better songwriters than Madonna so in this case it's not undeserved.

True. I think Aretha and Joni are generally regarded as the greatest two women in music. Madonna typically makes the top 5... Third, I guess.
