Expecting Shakira to revert back to her "Pies Descalzos" (or DELL) style is getting old. Madonna was allowed to reinvent herself and yet Shakira isn't. Some Shakira fans are stuck on this singular ideal image of Shakira that is unrealistic. They punish her for not consistently and rigidly being what THEY want her to be.
She released "Pies Descalzos" when she was 18. 15 YEARS later I think it's fine to allow her to do whatever she wants.
Whatever. The fans who don't like her new material will just have to move along. If she doesn't fulfill their expectations, then they should find someone else who does.
Contrary to some fans' beliefs, Shakira is a human being with her own desires and interests.... and those interests very well may not be the same as they were 15 years ago and she may very well not have any desire to return to that state.
As I see it, Shakira operates at the level of desire, she gives expression to deep down feelings that have been repressed in a woman's life (even the desire to enjoy sex or the fear of being short, etc.etc). It's very immediate, you can see it, whatever she does has intensity and conviction (believes in what she's doing, at least for the moment). She also loves to take off the style of another performer, almost as if she were parodying (slightly mocking) trends. Whatever we might say about SW or Rabiosa, it is completely original. No-one else can do it and it sounds like no-one else, track for track. We also can never expect too much from her English tracks which tend to be zany and experimental for the fun of it. It creates her niche if you like where she never quite fits in (and never will I feel), and people will always remember her for being different and 'latin' or exotic. Her Spanish albums speak to a much more discerning audience, who take their music very seriously, and are a greater challenge I feel.

THIS!!!!!!!!!!! The whole I want the "Old Shakira Back" is getting so old and tiring.... She's 34 years old, she's no longer 18 years old anymore. She's been in the business for 20 years now... She has nothing to prove to anyone anymore!

I like her new material, I love her new album. I was disapointed when the preview of Rabiosa showed this non-sexy Shakira for this pure sexy song, but the pole dancing is going too far. Shakira was the only decent popstar who would refuse to show her body in this way. I'm not liking this transition that will end up turning her into the ordinary pop star.

Only because Shakira shows a lil more of her body people get all ****ed up and mad coz Omg thts not the old Shakira omg that's not right to do omg Shakira should be a nun. Just quit that freaking obsession! I am so proud she tries new things and the pole dance is just PHENOMENAL. I am so thankful she did this if the green dress part was it, I'd die of boriness, but this pole scene made the video go to higher level. GREAT JOB SHAKI! keep it going like this .
this might be her third or second sexiest video ever She Wolf of course is the sexiest
