Except The Beatles practically invented music themselves
That doesn't even.... what? Sure they were influential and important but music still would've gone on without them, just perhaps not in the same direction. The same can be said for MJ and Madonna.
Theyve all influenced music in different ways. There really is no way to measure it.

If it weren't for The Beatles then... well, rock and roll would have never taken off, and rock and roll was what instigated pop music.. so, yeah, they basically invented music.
