River slayed me since her death in S4 yeah Asylum of the Daleks and the Snowmen Clara's were amazing, I was so hyped for her. Then the rest of S7 turned out to be awful except the finale and I completely lost interest in her. Plus I didn't care about her relationship with Danny

Really? I thought she was much better in the eighth series. Her performance and writing in "Flatline" in particular were amazing, in my opinion.

I just didn't like her Story Arc with Danny Pink :/ Her acting was fine with what she was given, but I just didn't like her character direction.

YASS Riversong coming back for the christmas special her episodes are always amazing, but the Christmas episodes are generally some of the worst TV i have ever watched, so I don't know what to expect.

I hope they don't waste her because she probably won't be back for a while

When River saw Clara in the S7 finale, that was the first time she had met her (and then she died). Which hopefully means Clara won't be in the Christmas special since they can't really meet again...so Clara will leave this season?

Her backstory is basically given in Season 6:
-Amy gives birth to her in "A Good Man Goes To War" and she is stolen by the Silence
-The Silence take her to New York to be brought up in an orphanage in "The Impossible Astronaut" , where she regenerates and escapes (she's half Time Lord since Amy and Rory conceived her in the TARDIS )
-As a child she goes to England and finds Amy and Rory as children too and grows up with them as friends in "Let's Kill Hitler", then when they've all grown up she reveals herself as their daughter, then regenerates into the River we know. Then she tries to kill the Doctor since that's what the Silence trained her to do. She fails to kill him and starts to fall in love with him. Later she becomes an archaeologist and tries to find the Doctor again.
- In the Season 6 finale the Silence find her again, and force her to kill the Doctor. Eventually she shoots him but he escapes again

From there she basically travels with the Doctor at various points (the Pandorica and Angels episodes in Season 5). By now the Doctor knows less and less about her each time they meet. They carry diaries to figure out where they are in each other's timelines.

Finally she meets the 10th Doctor in Season 4, where he hasn't met her yet and doesn't know who she is by this time she's been travelling with him for a long time (but in his future). She ends up sacrificing her life to save him and she dies. He manages to kinda save her by putting her conscience into a computer.

That's how we see her in the Season 7 finale, where she's just an echo of herself who wants to say goodbye to the Doctor after that she fades away.

See this is what confuses me
I think I'm going to have to rewatch the whole Matt Smith era at some point to make sense of it in my head

Ugh I love rivers story its amazing if they had all this planned from season 4.

The multiple Clara story line started off amazing as well, but it was so rushed when they concluded it, if they wanted to do that kind of story they should have introduced her way sooner having her appear briefly and dying a few more times, her appearing twice (or 3 times if you count current Clara) and then saying she was present in the doctors life since he first stole the Tardis was just silly in my opinion.

The reason River got let out of prison was because when the Doctor faked his death he went deleting information about himself from every database in the galaxy, so he basically didn't exist
