That's because you're racist.
And the answer is yes. There is such a negative stigma in the black community (and with all people as a whole) when it comes to being dark skinned. A majority of people (not I) find dark skinned blacks less attractive.
Do I have family members who ice their skin so it appears lighter? Yes
Do I have friends who wont go out in the summer so they don't get darker and compared to charcoal? Yes
It's sad, but true.
It's hard for those who are dark skinned, because the white community clearly doesn't accept them, and the black community puts them on a lower level as well.
