It'll probably outgross it's budget by Sunday so who cares. I can see this pulling in close to 30 million total on the box office which it's good to me as long as it isn't the lowest selling concert movie of all time
Honestly, I don't think it's going to have any legs at all.
Spider-Man is out now, Ice Age (Katy's film's target audience) is out in a week, and then TDKR comes out (I don't think anyone will be seeing anything besides TDKR that weekend except in the situation of the film becoming completely sold out).
I mean is anyone really surprised? I would expect the same numbers from a rihanna concert movie (maybe even less?). Long story short this will help album sales and she will prob profit from ticket sales anyway
No one was expecting record breaking numbers and tbh she doesn't have the "crazy teenage girl" fans like Justin meaning it's actually pretty good. However, I would have preferred a Britney or Gaga movie

Exactly, Ice Age will not only steal the film's target, but also its 3D screens.
Well theres nothing interesting about her tbh. Thats why the movie flops.
Justin had success cause hes the new sexy boy every girl wants and cause of his fanbase.
MJ had success cause he was the King of Pop and died.
But Katy is just a normal popgirl with a smaller fanbase.
A Rihanna or Gaga movie would probably have more success than this.
I don't understand why they released a movie for her? It could of been a behind the scenes on MTV or vh1. Britney Spears movie would of been more interesting.
It's a Thursday opening, it's gonna be weak. It'll outgrows it's budget and more, it's doing fine.
Exactly.
And all the spill over effects -- raised album sales, increased WA success, growing respect, etc -- make it very worthwhile even if the movie ends with an only decent gross.

No.
Anyway, this is acceptable. I can see it outgrossing its budget.
I don't think any of us expected big numbers from this.
This is on par with Glee numbers, which is alright.
Glee's opening weekend was $5.7 million, Katy's movie is expected to open with $15M- $19M (4 Days) according to Box Office Mojo and other sources
Quote:
At 2,730 locations, Katy Perry: Part of Me aims to draw Katy Perry's legion of young female fans to the movie theater. This strategy worked well for distributor Paramount's Insurge label last year when Justin Bieber: Never Say Never debuted to $29.5 million on its way to a $73 million total. Other successful concert movies in the past few years include Michael Jackson's This Is It ($23.2 million debut) and Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour ($31.1 million opening), though there are also recent duds from the Jonas Brothers ($19.2 million total) and Glee ($11.9 million total). Katy Perry is popular enough that her movie will avoid the Jonas Brothers problem, though she's not quite as "of the moment" as Bieber or Hannah Montana were at the time of their movies. There's also frankly more competition for Katy Perry in the Summer than Bieber had in February, with Spider-Man and Brave both doing strong business with young women. Paramount is predicting low-to-mid teens for the movie over its first four days (it opens on Thursday).
5. Katy Perry - $13.5 million ($19 million four-day)
Bar for Success: "Katy Perry: Part of Me" needs around $20 million for the four-day start to be included in the upper-echelon of concert movies
