No I have no Italian background at all. Perdono was a big hit in mainland Europe, so that's how I knew of him. But after that, nothing. It was a friend from Mexico who turned me into a stan (years later) when he made me listen to Ed Ero Contentissimo. Hearing that song for the first time was a life changing experience.

I listen to music in all languages, so it doesn't really matter to me if I can't understand the words. Tiziano is the only Italian artist I'm a fan of, but I like Laura Pausini and some others. I was also in love with Giusy Ferreri's debut album which Tiziano produced.

That's really interesting that the music transcends the language barrier. Though Im sure you've learned a fair amount of Italian by listening to him.

Yeah I've noticed my vocabulary and grammar are getting pretty decent, just by listening to his songs all the time, and by translating the songs of his last three albums and having discussions about them with Italians. But that's only understanding the language. Io penso è difficile anche a formare frase semplici. Or something.

I tried to work through his book/diary in Italian until I gave up and just ran it through Google translate. It was still so painful to read though. He is such an amazing person.

Don't remind me of English Laura. I'm only here for her Italian songs. The last album was pretty disappointing though. And I wasn't able to give it much of a chance because I was already too obsessed with La Differenza Tra Me E Te.

I'm glad all of his lyrics sound amazing to me. I think being fluent in Italian would ruin it a little for me.

I can't believe EMI will let him do this. Smeraldo and Karma are the perfect choice for the summer with Karma supporting the european release of the album. Hai delle isole negli occhi is the third worst song on the album :/
