That Banks song is not bad but could’ve been better. Moonshine brings the MJ swagger in Bruno Like Sugar is a good jam from their album. Stars is a good track by fun. Young Girl is not my fav. Some nice choices here can’t wait to see more.
Throughout December, I'll be counting down my 100 favorite songs of the year. This was a hard list to make & I tried to make it as accurate as possible.
#100-96 revealed. What will be #95-91?
#100-96
100 Matchbox Twenty - She's So Mean
The surprisingly good first single from Matchbox Twenty's North. The concept is campy, but it's all in good fun. I'm glad they chose to not take their comeback too seriously and made it a casual affair. Fits right in with the rest of their AC staples (though not quite on their level).
99 Ludacris - Jingalin'
Okay, so this song has next to zero actual substance, but it's hella fun. The Hit-Boy beat is insanely well-produced and Ludacris outdoes How Low with his playful rhymes about... booty. This is not a song you'll like if you're looking for a song with lots of substance and something new to offer. Wouldn't you rather have this that David Guetta song he just did?
98 M.I.A. - Bad Girls
Nice song with an interesting beat, and an interesting beat especially. MIA is an enigma to me, and definitely a creative artist with an interesting perspective.
97 Taylor Swift - Everything Has Changed (featuring Ed Sheeran)
Ed Sheeran is one of my favorite new artists of 2011, with a great debut album, +. So of course I'm going to get interested when I find out he worked with Taylor Swift (considering Red is also a great album). The song delivers and sounds exactly how I wanted it to. Honestly, it fits in right with the sound of + : very 90s with an honest, acoustic feel to it. Their voices compliment each other extremely well in what I think might make a good Fall 2013 single from Red. Think about it, Big Machine.
96 Dawn Richards - Faith
ATRL says "hew?". She is an ex-member of Danity Kane, but her music is so much better. She has found her own niche of Drake-esque R&B, but with her own twist to it of course. The EP this song comes from is very melancholy and full of echoing, somber melodies such as Faith. It has a pulsing beat that helps the song reach a great climax. Look out for her.
