But really even if the movie disappoints overall, she is more likely to excel in that role and could still win.

Lincoln is one of Speilberg's last movies, and DDL's performance is just insane apparently.

He'll get it. Joaquin and Hoffman already have theirs, and yes DDL has two, but he's arguably the greatest actor of this generation

Actually Joaquin doesn't have one, he's been nominated twice but lost to Benicio Del Toro and Hoffman <
I haven't watched the film obviously but I hope Day-Lewis wins, he's phenomenal in everything he's in.

I don't think Safe & Sound is eligible. It wasn't in the movie and it played 2nd during the credits. I think it either has to be in the movie or be the first song played during the end credits.

With that logic, I really hope Soundgarden's Live to Rise gets some recognition for The Avengers. (Though I know it won't ;__; )

Very doubtfully. It was a fun summer film but, in all honesty, the flaws in that movie were too big to put it up for an award like that. And I'm saying this solely as a standalone film. Because if you've read the books, it's easier to fill the gaps that the movie left out. But if you've never read the books, a lot of stuff in the movies stand very warily on their own.
It was a good film, but not Oscar worthy by any means.
