But can you blame someone for listening to today's hits? When they are growing up... today?
You also need to remember not everyone is a hardcore music fan -- that they will take the effort to research music that influenced today's sounds. Everyone is different, not everybody is going to do the same thing.
And I'm not saying you have to be born in the 80s to love rock music, but many things influence what genre you're into. For instance, my parents like MJ, some African artists, Destiny's Child and so on. Now, I mainly listen to urban music -- pop now and then since its been so exposed to me when I was little. Rock has never been part of my life and I don't have any interest to start listening to it. For starters, the angry fans don't really make me want to learn about it.
