Its absolutely the opposite. Anyone who has taken a rudimentary psychology course could tell you that. From infant-hood, the mind is attracted and drawn to people who look like yourself or your parents as the mind sees these traits are conducive to having a thriving offspring in the future. Why do you think same race relationships are by far the most prevalent? I cannot see how it is racist at all to only have feelings for the same race, its just basic biology. Unless somebody is actually a racist and that is their basis for not dating a certain race then thats different but thats no what the thread is talking about.

Being attracted to certain races is not comparable to certain sexes, for those of you who are mentioning being gay. Sex is biological while race is a social construct. Scientists might find a "gay" gene or whatever. but they're not gonna find some "I don't date black/Asian/white people" gene

I've seen some stuff about people being drawn to partners that are like themselves or their parents, so I guess you could make that argument, but it's not like that is some exclusive thing. Otherwise any strict racial "preference" is the result of people (whether unconsciously or not) buying into racist constructs.

You're turning it into something it isn't.

Everyone has preferences when it comes to looks, some people like pasty white, some like tan, some like dark. It's all a matter of what you find attractive. I'm sure there are body types you don't like, probably hair colors you prefer, too.

It is not racist. I'm latino I have my preferences and race sometimes plays a factor into who I actively seek out/am attracted to.

There are plenty of people out there. No need to focus on those who aren't into you.

i mean if you're typically less attracted to a certain race but you're still capable of being attracted to them, it's just slightly less often, that's not really racist and probably based on skin tone or something like that. but if you can't be attracted to another race at all that's absolutely racist because there's no way that's based on anything other than stereotypes and prejudice. different races don't look different to /that/ extent.

It's a preference to a certain degree. It's not racist, but shutting an entire race out or saying you're not attracted to any person of a certain race is borderline racist. Saying a certain race is not attractive is racist. It's also really superficial to only look at what's on the surface when that's really only temporary.

I agree that it's strange and creepy, but it's pretty normal. They might deny it, but a lot of people have this set idea of what they want and that includes race and/or color. People will deviate from it, but they still have their "preferences."
