A child should just simply not be forced to learn anything related to religion until he/she is old enough to decide if he wants to believe in it or not.

I disagree. Religious education is important for religious tolerance, something that is especially necessary in the 21st century, post 9/11 and 7/7. I agree that it needs to be taught properly but if teachers stick to the curriculum, there should be no problem whatsoever.

Huh? What are the massive holes in evolution? Evolution and natural selection are accepted by nearly every reputable scientist and form the basis for most of our understanding of biology. It's not some crackpot theory.

um Evolution has been proven to be a fact and there's fossil records & DNA to back it up + we have seen it happen in birds and insects.

Not sure what this changes, as I'm sure it wasn't actually taught in school much until now, but

You're saying that you barely spent any time studying evolution, yet you know that there are 'MASSIVE holes in the theory', when in fact the opposite is true? Evidently you need to do a bit more research on the matter.

I can't wait until all atheists die since they're so quick to judge everyone. The world would be a better place with atheists dead since they can't seem to just leave people alone with their beliefs.

I've done research on both creationism and evolution and believe it or not, creationism seems to be the most logical explanation for our being. Evolution has A LOT of holes and is very illogical to believe, unless you're dumb of course.

You do not needy question my intelligence like that simply because I disagree with a theory. I'm not believing in any theory or religious banter until I see the concrete proof. Evaluation theories have been plagued with YES massive "holes". It dosnt take a genius to recognize that.
I agree with the other user who said it should be taught as a theory and that's about it because as of 2014 it IS nothing but a theory and I'm not about to accept teachers/pol/you come at me and tell me it's the "truth" and I should submit to the minimalistic and contradictory "evidence" in evolution.
P.s: sorry for typos I'm on an iPod and auto correct is lame lol

What holes in evolution? From what I see it seems rather solid
That isn't me starting a fight btw, I just genuinely want to know

the word "theory" has a different meaning in science, a scientific theory summarizes a hypothesis or group of hypotheses that have been supported with repeated testing.

Is this is a joke? Sequencing genomes has all but confirmed evolution. Specifics might be off, and things may change laterally as we discover more and more, but we are all descended from a common ancestor, are more related to some species than others, etc. Theory is used because the stringent criteria to move to a law or principle is pretty much impossible to attain for this kind of thing. Gravity, outside of Newton's law, is also a "theory" but few would question it.
I've yet to hear a "convincing argument" for creationism, too.

Not when the judging that happens in religion leads to violations of human rights and death. But let out your hurt feelings I guess

Religious education is exactly what put me off religion. First of all, except for one little topic we never looked at any religions other than Catholicism which defeats the purpose a bit. Plus the way it was structured forced us to have to write/say things that were pro-Christianity. I had to write about how IVF people are unnatural, less than human and "against God's plan" to pass. It was an utter disgrace, and my teacher as a former nun-in-training didn't help.

Omg. I'm not an atheist by the way, but this is complete nonsense. Yes there are some arrogant atheists I know a few in person, but this doesn't disprove that the evolution theory is false. Please explain to me your reasoning behind why you think the creationism is more valid than evolution.

I've lived my entire life not judging anyone by their religion/non-religion, even with my belief in God. I've gotten BEATEN UP for my beliefs, bullied in school for it, etc. I can't simply go on being the nice guy anymore.

I'm not going to explain because every time I do I get multiple people telling me how stupid I am. I just don't bother anymore. It doesn't help anything.
