Well I think the beauty of it is that, as a bisexual (or pansexual) person, you aren't bound by gender. You won't have to "choose" a gender to settle down with... you'll probably fall in love with someone regardless of their gender and that will be that.
When you go in with the mindset that it's a choice, it's easy to end up guilt tripping yourself into living a "straight" life and ignoring any non-hetero feelings you may have. It's an unhealthy way to live.
This is all coming from a gay guy with zero bi-curiosity and only a handful of bi/pan friends, so take it with a grain of salt.

Double standards are a mess. I can't at the gorls in here saying no it's not possible and not providing any reasoning behind their arguments though.
