in general, yes, there is a sense of isolation for any marginalized group and that's why having support and spaces to be with other people like you is really important.

but to your other points, a lot of gay men do want long-term monogamous relationships, especially as you get older. i know lots of committed couples who aren't partying and on grindr.

Well i think that you guys who are looking for a relationship should stay positive. If you want a relationship, there should be others also looking for a relationship. Men who can find sex easily, i mean its not easy. So isn't finding a partner. Stay calm and you will find the right guy. Who will let a nice guy let go of their hands?

I've been with my fella almost ten years and have many friends that are in ltr.

Because he's older than me, i do have the occasional thought about what life would be like if something happened to him. Both my parents died in my late teens, i don't speak to any of my siblings and I'm never going to have kids so it is a worry. I'll probably die alone and be eaten by my dog. I feel sorry for whoever finds that mess.

If the average gay male lived to be 60 years old, then he would have lived 720 months.

Assuming he hasn't had sex until he's 18, he would have 504 months where he's sexually active

If he slept with 1 new guy each month, then he's slept with 504 guys in his life time.

If he slept with 2 new guys each month, then he's slept with 1,008 guy in his lifetime.

Is that hard to believe that 28% of gay men were capable of doing that with apps like Grindr available?

You just have to look harder and not have unrealistic high standards. That is problem. Most gay guys want the the 'perfect an' he has to look like a model and all other stuff. Not every guy is going to look like Zac Erfron. It's okay to date a guy is not a perfect 10.


Look at that one gay couple who died at the Pulse shooting.. they were in love and about to get married. I read all about them.. they were not the type just to have sex.

They are some out there who do want to be in a relationship and commit.

I can be and it was for me when I was a kid. Once you stop self hating and being embarrassed by yourself it gets better. Learning to love yourself and love being gay really changes everything. I don't have many friends exactly or a boyfriend but I'm not lonely.
