The CEO of Columbia was the only one that knew afaik. He hosted a party under the pretense of a holiday party and surprised the rest of the label execs by screening the whole album for them merely a few hours before it dropped.

Its true Beyoncé has a very strange record deal with Columbia, its almost a rolling contract - reassessed after each release, they really have no idea whats going on until she turns up and says "I want to release this in two weeks time"
