Thanks to the anonymity on the internet, people are huge badasses all of a sudden and say things like that in order to try and compensate for their real lives in which they are probably stomped upon by other people and are unable to defend themselves.

Well, first of all, if someone were to threaten death on another member, that is pretty damn pathetic.

Secondly, I would say that he or she should probably be permabanned; a person who makes an online death threat can actually be legally prosecuted - I wouldn't want to see this site get into any legal trouble.

Do people realize that cyber bullying is becoming more and more prevalent, and that people seriously hurt themselves over what is told over "just the internet"?

The means of communication shouldn't matter. If you insult/threaten someone face to face, online, over the phone, through a carrier owl, it all huts the same.
