If you're gonna predict nominees, this is the perfect time. But do remember that the VMA cutoff date for eligibility is somewhere around mid-to-late June (early July at the earliest), so videos that JUST premiered (or even better, are gonna premiere soon) are NOT ELIGIBLE until next year (and by then they most likely have been forgotten for newer ones).

Atlanta's crime is too high for them to even consider, and plus I couldn't think of a place where they would hold it downtown. Chicago is known for it's crimes and murders. So....yeah. New York, L.A., Miami, and Vegas are major popular cities and attractions, easier to hold there.

Anyways, nominations shall be exciting.

Well, they DID manage to beat Hurricane Katrina by a couple of days, but okay I'll give it to you (even though I think Diddy hosting did more damage to them than the hurricane). NOw, how do we explain the 2004 VMAs (also in Miami) not living up to the hype from the prvious year's show???

Yeah, but AFTER Katrina came through. Though I'm not sure if Rita postponed it too. I watched the Weather Channel like every day back in 2005 (Weather was one of my HUGE interests back then, and I still watch it during Hurricane Season and Tornado Season when I'm not watching Disney, Nick, or TeenNick)

Anyways, I think it was held after Katrina came through...and of course...Katrina was just a Category 1 when she came through Florida.

So yeah, that's why Katrina doesn't count.
