Ive noticed this whenever I stumble across any random Kpop music video. The videos are gorgeous, colorful and appealing to the eyes, the music is fun with a catchy rhythm, their dancing is on point and sleek.
Meanwhile we are stuck with this mess.. sloppy dancing, no height coordination, and cheap, mismatched outfits.
These western girls need to learn a thing or two from Korea
This video in particular is stunning and enticing, i just wish that i could understand what they are singing
I can understand how that could be a roadblock for you it depends on the person if they feel like taking the time to know the lyrics and just feel the melody.
It's not for everyone but the music is quality with a lot of kpop acts.
JYP's channel has cc so it has firsthand english subs for their videos.
TBF is there any decent western girl group to compare them to? Compare them to any of the good girl groups we've gotten (Destiny's Child, Pussycat Dolls, TLC, Spice Girls etc.), and they'd lose

After watching a few Kpop videos and performances ive noticed that each member gets their own moment to shine in each song and performance, they switch positions and each girl has a chance at center stage. While it seems like most western girl groups are more focused on a lead while Kpop groups give the audience a chance to get a piece of each bandmember everytime.

All the Michelles of the group get cut before debuting. There aint room for a weak link.
Surprisingly there actually IS a logical reason why Korean Pop Music is running circles around the west in production value and concepts. The modern Korean music industry is literally not even a decade old yet, and they're a lot more willing to spend money on different things to see what works and try and cash in on the market. Where in the west we only have R&B influenced girl groups, in Korea you've got electronica girl groups, 80s SAW Kylie Minogue concept girl groups, hip hop girl groups, retro girl groups, EDM groups, disco groups, British synth pop girl groups, rock/metal influences girl groups, 90s teenybopper, etc etc etc
Let's not even talk the logistics about how much money they splash on their MVs, too. Western MV values are comparatively pittances
Also true. A commercial flop is a lot more detrimental to a Western artist, because the paths they're expected to take are much more linear. If a group like f(x) or Miss A's most recent release wasn't totally picked up, it's a lot easy for them to bounce back with a concept change.

It doesn't work like that. There's certain members who get the shaft while others get promoted like crazy.

They would if this was the 90s/ early 2000s western girl groups right now are lacking.
But it's not solely on them, artists in general needs to stop picking the same small pool of producers.
Honestly, I hope 4th Impact (the group on The X Factor) do well post-competition. They could change the game for a lot of international groups were they to hit it big and keep up the K-pop girl group shtick. If they won The X Factor and released 4 Walls, it would be a huge hit in the UK. That's undeniable.
