Fearless was better than pretty much every album it was up against though. It was probably about equal to The Fame.

We all know Genius Loves Company won out of sympathy. Ray is a legend and should have won the award in his prime, not posthumously.

All three of those were "legacy" awards. Is that necessarily fair? Not really, but the quality of those albums greatly surpasses Fearless

Worth mentioning that the 2010 Grammy AOTY nominees were quite poor/unremarkable though. Still, Fearless just wasn't it.

Though I still don't understand how the Herbie Hancock album won over Graduation or Back to Black.
