Please, if she didn't care she would go independent and release music for the sake of art. She is signed to a label because she cares to sell material.
People act as if pop stars don't need promo just because a few managed to succeed without much. I could say the same about Telephone but that wouldnt change the fact that lack of promo is a good excuse for underperformance.
