When I first heard this song back in January, I knew it was going on the list. The lead single from Kiss Me Once, the song shows Kylie singing a killer survivor anthem. ATRL's resident Kylie expert wasn't feeling it, but I'm not sure why? Hmm. She serves a great vocal, it's well-written, and well-produced; what's not to love? When the chorus blares, you can't help but sing along. I will admit it's a bit of a step-down from the thrilling, futuristic "Skirt" of 2013, but it's still classic Kylie. <3

Now for something a little different from Kylie Minogue. I'm not into punk music at all, but that opening guitar riff really draws you in. The hook, "I can feel your pain and I feel alright about it", is so catchy, yet so morbid. I'm not supposed to be singing along to this, but I can't help it. There is such a frantic, constant energy throughout the song that really pumps me up. I didn't really dig too deep into their album, but I'm definitely saving it for a rainy, depressing day.

yessss slay! this is bubbling under in my top tho, but i'm so happy to see the song in someone else top!
Not a huge fan of Into the Blue honestly! I think she set the standards too high with Skirt. But literally yesterday I found a song better than both of them and all of KMO, which is now going to sneak a spot on my list.
Still need to listen to Tove Lo and SBTRT.
I cannot get into The War on Drugs. LITR is not a bad album, but the praise they're getting is sorta mind boggling to me.

Don't judge. Anybody that knows me on ATRL should know Cheryl is my ultimate guilty pleasure. I know she's trash. I know she can't sing. I don't care. I can't leave her off my countdown if she's released new music. Hell, "Call My Name" was my #1 of 2012. The best thing about this song is that Cheryl says the f word (scandal!). It's language that is unbecoming of a British lady. The track is a cute 80s-inspired bop. The bridge is such a highlight, and it's where I got the header quote. I love hearing Bonnie McKee's vocals all over the background (...NOT!). All in all, a decent effort by Chezza.

This is one of the weird/odd songs on my countdown. Actually, there's a couple more off-kilter songs after this one in the update. The track has a solid dance beat, but it's so un-danceable. The diction is serious. The lyrics are somber. The instrumental has its really pretty moments. A cross between classical and dance, but not in the Clean Bandit way. I appreciate an artist who is willing to put a bunch of disparate elements together and try to make them work.
