Whilst no one song may be as good as a track like You've Changed, it's a far more consistent offering and worthy of all the praise it gets.
Most people will know the lead single Chandelier, and it's incredible vocal performance. Whilst the rest of the album may not feature anything as stunningly shocking, it doesn't have plenty of knockout moments - the glitchy Free The Animal, the Halo-esque Fire Meets Gasoline and the poppy Hostage chief amongst them. But what sets this album apart from her contemporaries is the lyrics - even at her poppiest they remain extremely personal, and often allude so serious issues such as depression which she has battled with over the years.
Overall, this album is a stunning effort from one of pop's most promising stars, and one if the highlights of the year thus far.
9/10
First one can someone confirm this is long enough?

– Single reviews must be at least 5 sentences; Album reviews must be at least 10 sentences.

Does this mean singles and albums will both be reviewed in this thread? I think they should be split; atrlcritic for albums and atrljukebox for singles.

Maiko is wondering if he could send a check or do some good deeds to ensure that FKA Twigs'
LP1 get's a review when it comes out next month.

New singles and albums are being reviewed here. If it ever seems like its becoming too crowded, we may consider splitting, but I don't see that happening.

Sia - 1000 Forms Of Fear
After writing an amount of hitsingles for artists like Beyonce, Rihanna, Katy Perry or Britney Spears, Sia released her long awaited 6th studio album „1000 Forms Of Fear“.
In my opinion the singer/songwriter managed a big upgreat from her last record „We Are Born“, mixing organic instruments („Hostage“) with modern pop sounds („Fire Meets Gasoline“).
The album reaches Its peak at the phanomanal upbeat track „Free The Animal“, which convinces with an outstanding, and very interesting production.
„The 1000 Forms Of Fear“ has some sort of red line leading through the complete record, which makes the whole experiance much more intense.
With a personal touch on every song and some sort of dark vibe surrounding the whole record, Sia outplays the latest releases of pop legends like Jennifer Lopez.
However the songs Cellophane, Fair Game and Dressed In Black distrub the overall, nearly flawless, impression of the album.
Especially „Fire Game“ is the defention of a filler and should have been replaced with a song such as „Pretty Hurts“.
By large and all, Sia presents herself ready to fight and survive in the big pop circus.
In the near future, her heart-swelling and catchy choruses might bring her even more hits than her current smash „Chandelier“.
Score:
7,0 / 10

Can we make a sub forum for the reviews? Like the celebria, lounge, base, etc. Also post the score in the title in real time to make the girls sweat

1000 Forms Of Fear, the newly-released body of work, by Australian singer-turned-songwriter-turned-singer, has a sound that could be considered pop by it's catchy and radio-friendly nature, but it remains Sia-esque. On the opening track, Chandelier, spooky verses suddenly explode into a powerhouse chorus, with Sia showcasing the gift of a voice she has. Seemingly a party song at firs glance, the song actually deals with addiction and depression, a theme that is more consistent in the album than its sound might tell. Some songs are straighforwardly sad, like Big Girls Cry and Eye Of The Needle, and what makes them more haunting is the honesty that oozes from their lyrics and Sia's vocal performance in them. The Australian chanteuse also left room in the album for some redeeming, insightful and forward-looking songs, like Burn The Pages, an anthem for the ones that choose to leave sorrow behind and embrace the potentially good things the future may hold for them. She's also playful in Free The Animal, a different, unique sex song that refers to sex as a destructive and liberating pleasure. Love is also present in the Halo-chorused Fire Meet Gasoline. Finally, as the album closes, Dressed In Black is by far the most haunting song that shines its pain throughout its 6:40 minute-long course. The last two minutes are exclusively reserve for Sia's lament cry, in what is one of the best outros a song and an album could have. Overall, besides its apparent sound-shift, the album stays loyal to Sia's previous efforts, where the sound was not as much of a defining trait, as the honesty each song reflects and the effective cohesviness of the body of work as a whole. All in all, 1000 Forms Of Fear is one of the best albums of 2014 so far and is by far worth the listening all through. A pop gem many would die to have recorded. 10/10

This is such a cute idea! I'll be skipping this one since I'm biased and would give Sia a 0, but I'm definitely looking forward to reviewing future albums
