Imagine if Rihanna released an album every 3-4 years and you're imagining Christina.
But at the very least Rihanna Rihanna's team has managed to create a somewhat consistent "theme" for her as a person, and musically. Every album still contains certain hints of that "island" music on a few tracks. Not to mention that the progression of sounds on Rihanna's albums follow a certain narrative of her personal life. Rated R works as a direct response to the incident, Loud works as a "comeback," and Talk That Talk works as an album of a woman continuing to rule the charts.
Christina went from teen-pop to **** queen to jazz to GaGa+Goldfrapp emulation to Half-Indie/Half-Ester-Dean-Penned-Pop to whatever the **** she's trying to do now. There's no tangible thread through her music that solidifies her as anything resembling an artist.
She has the whole package. When Christina delivers, she is the epitome of a pop star. She's the closest thing to perfect. And that's why the other stanbases can't cope with that. They point out every flaw she has, every mishap that makes her interesting as an individual and judge her according to that. In the end, the evidence is still there and later generations will be the ones to discover that and give her the recognition she truly deserves.

Because her stanbase is weak.the fact that she takes so many years between her albums doesnt help either. For example, you can tell nothing to Lil Kim or Britney stans .They may be delusional but they go hard for their faves.Xtina is a Big pop stars with the stanbase of newbie.
No but for real, Christina is just kind of unlikable as a person. It goes all the way back to her story on how she had to be pulled out of elementary school because other kids were "jealous of her talents."
No. That's not how it works. Third graders don't go "OMG you sing too well, I hate you, you can't come to my sleepover!" I've known people from both towns she grew up in, and she has a reputation in both of them for being a ridiculously mean person. You can just tell by the way she acts and treats other people that she thinks she's better than everyone else.
She also spends too much time trying to be something she's not. The incident with her working with M.I.A. in the studio is a perfect example of this. She didn't want to actually collaborate with M.I.A., she just wanted to do a song M.I.A. had already written so she could get her "indie cred" without, god forbid, having to do any artistic work.
In fact, you could sum up the problem with Christina just like that: She has no artistic identity. She has a voice musically, but she doesn't have any voice artistically. Her career hasn't made any logical progression over the past 10 years. To this day, her music still says nothing about her other than "I can belt," or in the case of Bionic, "I can pretend to be M.I.A./Santigold/Sia/Peaches/Ladytron/Goldfrapp."
Back to Basics was the closest she ever came to establishing an artistic identity, but then she went right into Keeps Getting Better and made it all seem rather fake.
People make fun of her because she's never been THE girl (maybe during Stripped she was). But for the most part, she's either a less sexy/fun version of Britney Spears or trying way to hard to become Lady GaGa. She's also one of the most overrated singers of our generation.
I could continue, but I don't think you want me too...
Hold up- the britney thing I can somewhat agree but how the hell is she "trying" to become gaga??
Please fill me in on that? It seems that EVERYONE is attempting to be Gaga from Nicki to my flop ass fav and im just not seeing it. Elaborate for my basic ass g0rL

The first paragraph is the reason why people call her a "puppet" or a "gimmick"
Xtina can do it all and her only mistakes is to do exactly that on each album. That's the reason her albums are never well received by the critics, she is versatile and the public cant take it

No, that's the opposite of the truth. She's not versatile at all, and Bionic proved that. She tried like 15 different styles throughout the album, and the only ones that really worked were the ones she had already done before.
Sure, you could argue on a basic level that Elastic Love, Birds Of Prey, etc. "worked" but they're not Christina songs. People thought M.I.A. was featured on Elastic Love. That's really all you need to know there.

You say versatile, I say lacking focus and direction with a huge ego that thinks people always want to hear fifteen - twenty songs on each damn album, even though half are always barely b-side quality.

She's just, sort of unlikeable. And the general public's caught on. The only exposure they have to her is her oversung, annoying performances, since her music isn't played on the radio anymore. She's fat. She's mean. She really has nothing going for her. My mom, of all people, was talking about how unlikeable she is just the other day.

Preach it. The fact that Vanity made it onto an album proves Christina/Her Team's complete lack of ability to pick quality songs and create a record.
And let's not even get into the abomination that is the PACING of Christina's albums.
Quote:
You say she recorded stuff like this before?
I edited my post and covered that sis. Sure, it works, but it doesn't even sound like Christina. Or maybe it does, but you can't tell because the album tries to be 15 different things at once, just like Christina has tried to be 100 things throughout her career. You can't put Birds Of Prey as a bonus track on the same album as Glam and expect people to take it seriously.

But 10 quality tracks from a total of 20 songs is better than 5 quality songs from a total of 12 songs, isn't it?
I love her music. I think she makes good albums, Bionic excluded.
Well, Stripped and Back to Basics were good albums.
She just comes across as cold, rude, and cocky.
