Maybe, but remember that in the UK (Rihanna's strongest market), Gaga was the 2nd most-played artist in 2011 behind Adele. Same in the US, where she was above Rihanna in the end-year radio spins list (and Rihanna has way more catalogue hits to inflate that).

Yeah but we're looking at overall eras. As much as I'd like to defend the BTW era, I have to agree with the fact that both of them are pretty well-matched. Rihanna's had a little more commercial success, that's all.

It did but just barely. And Born This Way reached the 6 million mark much more quickly, which is why I gave album sales to BTW. But like I said before, other areas in the Loud era overcome the BTW era.
