Kristin Chenoweth is kind of bummed about "Glee" creator Ryan Murphy's plan to do season 3 of the show without guest stars, but the pint-sized acting, singing, dancing powerhouse says she understands.
"I think he's trying to get his show back," Chenoweth tells Zap2it. "I think he's trying to really concentrate on his characters. I actually understand that. I get it. People want to see those characters."
The show did get some criticism during its recently-wrapped second season for putting too much emphasis on guest stars (like Chenoweth and Gwyneth Paltrow) and tribute shows to specific musicians rather than on the show's cast of regular characters.
Murphy -- who wrote the first two seasons with co-producers Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan -- hired a writing staff of six for season three in what is clearly a bid to beef up the stuff between the song and dance numbers.
Still, if ever a guest star fit in, it was Chenoweth. Sadly, it looks like we won't see her back at McKinley High for at least one season.
"Of course it's a bummer for me because I love April Rhodes," says Chenoweth. "But he needs to get his show back, so I get why he's doing that.
Finally, Ryan Murphy opens his eyes. That's why season 2 was so awful, I hope season 3 resembles more season 1 than 2. Not that I will be watching, tho...

Glee creator Ryan Murphy has now told fans that some of the cast will actually be staying on after season 3 wraps-up.
It was reported this week that the singing-dancing students at Prospect High School would be graduating and leaving, to be replaced by an all new line-up (excluding Matthew Morrison and Sue Sylvester). However, Murphy has now assured Gleeks some of the regular faces will remain on the series - especially as not everyone is the same age. "I would say there are some people who are not seniors and there are some people that are really intellectually challenged," he told EW. "Like, you know that Britney is pulling straight Fs."
Ryan added: "Chord [Overstreet] is not a senior. I believe Darren [Criss] is not a senior,"
When asked who will be staying, he didn't give anything away, adding: "There's a group of them. But this year we will be adding new people." 'Glee' season 3: Will Blaine transfer to McKinley High? Source: http://entertainment.gather.com/view...81474979614664
Darren Criss was just recently promoted to series regular status on Glee, so of course, the next thing fans are wondering is which school he will be attending in the fall. Will he be staying at Dalton? Will he transfer to McKinley and join New Directions?
Blaine at McKinley?
So far, Ryan Murphy hasn't officially announced that he would be transferring, but it seems to be what everyone's waiting for, and E! Online has said that they "wouldn't be surprised if Blaine makes the transfer within the first three episodes." It would seem likely since he's now a series regular, and there's no doubt that fans like to see him and Kurt together in the same school on Glee.
Blaine had transferred to Dalton after having his own run-in with bullies and liked their zero-tolerance policy, but now that his relationship with Kurt is pretty serious (they did say "I love you" in the season 2 finale), will he be able to deal with just seeing Kurt on weekends and after school? It would be nice to see Kurt and Blaine navigating through high school as a couple in the same school, and in order for that to happen, Blaine would have to be at McKinley since Kurt's not going to leave there again. What would McKinley and New Directions be like with Blaine around?

And if you haven't seen it already.. here's the TRAILER for the film!:
"Extra" correspondent Jerry Penacoli sat down with the cast of "Glee" to talk about their upcoming "Glee: The 3D Concert Movie" -- and the hoopla surrounding the reports that key cast members Lea Michele, Corey Monteith and Chris Colfer will be "graduating" from the show at the end Season 3.
The show's creator Ryan Murphy recently announced Michele, Monteith and Colfer would be leaving the show after the next season because their characters are seniors and would realistically be exiting high school. But during last week's FOX TCA tour, network executives clarified that it still an ongoing creative process and nothing concrete has been decided.
Michele, who plays overachiever Rachel Berry, understands the rationale, telling Penacoli, "Honestly for me, I started this show as a sophomore, and it's my third season, so I kind of figured it goes: sophomore, junior, senior."
Colfer, who plays the precocious Kurt Hummel, concurred that the whole thing has been blown out of proportion, "Absolutely, yes."
Is there truth they are leaving the show? Monteith, who plays the earnest Finn Hudson, replied, "A lot of us are still going to be here and happy to be doing the show. I'll be here as long as they'll have me, but I don't know what the future holds."
Meanwhile, the show's stars are excited about their concert movie -- even if some of the fans were a tad too zealous during the filming. Darren Criss, who plays Kurt's talented boyfriend Blaine Anderson, said, "As they were giving like high fives at the end of the show, someone just held on -- and essentially pulled me off stage!"
"Glee: The 3D Concert Movie" warbles into theaters August 12.
It looks like there will be happy times ahead for McKinley High School's hottest singing couple, Rachel and Finn.
Lea Michele chatted with Natalie Abrams from TVGuide.com and dished that after two seasons of back-and-forth love, things may finally be settling into place for Finn and Rachel. In the final episode of season two, the pair shared a sweet kiss sending them back down the path of romance, and when season three begins this fall, they will be back together as a couple.
Michele reveals that the drama surrounding the couple in this next season, will be "not so much of the Rachel/Puck and Finn/Quinn stuff," but more struggles about what and where their futures lie.
That is the question that has been talked about for months now and the outcome is still unclear. What will happen to Michele and co-stars, Cory Monteith and Chris Colfer, come the end of season three?
When "Glee" creator Ryan Murphy spilled the beans, and then confirmed those beans, that these three would be graduating and subsequently leaving the show, it rocked the "Glee" world in all the wrong places. Fans were outraged and it wasn't long before the show's producer, Brad Falchuk, did his best to squash the buzz that they'd be losing three of the show's favorite stars. He said, "because they're graduating doesn't mean they're leaving the show. If you have Lea Michele under contract, you don't say, 'We're gonna let you go.'"
Murphy did let out a small tease of what's to come in this upcoming season and it looks like it's going to be more, from everyone. He said "It’s hard on me because I love all those actors and they’re so talented and I feel an obligation to showcase their talent, and this year I think we’re going to do that a little better.”
