Does every artist have 6 songs or are they distributed according to the amount of hits they have?
Starting her solo career in 2003 with her debut album Dangerously In Love. Beyoncé became one of the biggest and most powerful celebrities of the world with 5 successful albums to her name and regarded as one of the best performers of all time.
Crazy in Love, don't think i need an explanation for this.
The 3rd single of B'Day, her biggest radio hit ever, nominated for a Grammy and one of the best selling songs of 2007, Irreplaceable is one of Beyonce's best songs and easily one of her biggest hits.
From the Dreamgirls soundtrack, Listen, was a critical success, earning an Academy Award nomination, it's currently one of Beyoncé's best known songs thanks to the countless performances in talent shows. Bey also performed this at the 49th Grammy Awards.
Again, i don't need an explanation for this but as Beyoncé said Single Ladies is "the most iconic... something special".
One of Beyoncé best singles, a huge WW hit and winning a Grammy for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance, Halo is our second to last song by Beyoncé in this rate.
For the last spot, it was either Love on Top or Drunk in Love. Both flawless songs and deserving of this place but at the end we decided on Love on Top cause this performance is probably Beyoncé's most iconic one. I'm guessing y'all know why.
Starting her career in 2002, Avril Lavigne had one of the biggest debuts of all time with Let Go. Known as the anti-Britney during her peak she made our list with 5 of her signature songs.
Her debut and one of her biggest hits, considered as a gem of pop/rock, Complicated, received 2 Grammy award nominations and put her on the map back in 2002.
After the success of her debut, Avril released the critically acclaimed Sk8er Boi, earning another Grammy nomination. The single was praised by critics calling it a "terrific power pop bounce”.
Her 3rd single, I’m With You was her first ballad and as L.A. Reid once said "the perfect song to drown your sorrows to when that guy from your class breaks your heart.”
The second single of her sophomore album, My Happy Ending is considered one of the best Post-grunge songs of all time as well as being Avril's 4th most successful single to date.
Closing this list is the best selling song of 2007. Girlfriend is Avril’s biggest song ever, her only #1 hit in the US and what many called the first viral video ever.
An outcast in high school turned NYU dropout, Stefani Germanotta, better known as Lady GaGa seemed like a non-factor with no future in 2006. Fast forward 2 years and out comes one of the best dance albums of the 2000s.
GaGa may be overtly eccentric, absuredly insecure and a bit too cringeworthy with her activism for LGBT, but there is no denying her genius underneath it all. Through her hard work, GaGa has managed to become one of the best selling musicians and highest grossing touring acts, while regularly appearing on Billboard’s Artist of the Year, Forbes and Time 100 Most Influential.
Despite having been written in ten minutes, Just Dance, the lead single from her 2008 debut album, The Fame beame a worldwide hit, becoming one of the most successful debut singles of all time. Despite having no traction on the charts for months after release, JD became a sleeper hit and climbed to the top of the charts.
Praised for not only the original dance recording but also the stripped down acoustic piano rendition, GaGa released Poker Face, the second single from The Fame to critical acclaim and commercial success. The song, heavy with a robotic hook and chorus with minimal melody went on to win Best Dance Recording at the 2010 Grammy Awards and is still her highest selling song of her career.
As amazing as the song is and as much praise it received from critics across the board, it wasn’t until a certain performance that the song went forever down in history as a masterpiece. Synonymous with the most iconic performance of her career (2009 VMAs), Paparazzi was the fifth and final single to be released from The Fame.
Winning 2 Grammy Awards in 2011, Bad Romance received nothing but commercial success and critical acclaim upon its release. However, the lead single from her EP, The Fame Monster, would have been nothing without the masterpiece that is the video. Not only was it praised for its underlying symbolisms, it sparked the revival of creative music videos throughout the music industry.
Propelled mostly by hype and from the commercial success of TF/TFM, Born This Way, the lead single from the studio album of the same name became a signature song for the wrong reasons. So much of this song/era was shoruded in controversy, whether it be the allegations that GaGa copied Madonna, the disgust that she was straight up pandering to the LGBT community or the fact that she crawled out of an egg like a chicken at the Grammys. Regardless, love it or not, BTW is a defining song of GaGa.
While in recovery mode from the terrible first two single choices from Born This Way, GaGa finally decided to get her **** together and released her third single, The Edge of Glory. This magnum opus received critical acclaim and was deemed a highlight of the album by both critics and the general public. The song had an inspiring message to impart and featured a bold saxophone solo by the late Clarence Clemons. Despite the heavy criticisms of having a rather simplistic video for the best single of the era, it was because of the simplicity that the message of the song shined so beautifully.
