One thing I dislike about the Grammys is how they give artists a bunch of nominations but no win. Examples: Mariah Carey in 1996 and India.Arie in 2002.
it's really just their asshole way of making it even more of a slap in the face than not nominating at all. That way, the bitch shows up because she has so many, and they can watch her lose 8 times.

Ugh. It has to be embarrassing. I remember watching as a kid and seeing Mariah's face every time she lost an award. She should have won at least two Grammys that year. I watched a video on YouTube of her losing ROTY to Seal (who totally deserved his win), and you could tell that she already knew she was going to lose that award.
And poor India.Arie. I remember reading about how she was crying back stage and Bono had to comfort her. I say don't nominate these artists for a bunch of awards if you're not going to reward them. It's embarrassing.

I wanted to talk about the 2003-2004 Grammy race for Best Pop Female, for a moment:
Best Female Pop Vocal Performance
Bjork, Oceania Sheryl Crow, The First Cut is the Deepest Norah Jones, Sunrise * (winner) Gwen Stefani, What Ya Waiting For? Joss Stone, You Had Me
This might be the weirdest race I've ever seen. I know this year is weak, but 03-04 really set the mold, huh? All five of these could have been submitted to other categories: Bjork to Rock Vocal (Alternative Vocal would be better, but that category still doesn't exist NARAS), Stone to R&B, Stefani to Dance, Crow to Country (where she could have easily beaten Gretchen Wilson).
What happened to the actual "pop" songs? Where is Everytime or The Voice Within? Was Jojo seen as too much of a gimmick then (and now?) And who else shares my opinion that, if the SNL incident had never happened, both Simpson sisters would have TOTALLY gotten in?
