A #1 under 100k is not really an achievement, especially when his peers can pull over 100k with pure sales off the backs of their fanbases.

Yes a lot of his peers are (barely) pulling 100K with physical copies, iTunes availability, not having their album online for 2 months prior, hit songs, radio play, and some even Q4 and Holiday wrapped releases.

He did 94K equivalents with just streaming and digital copies on his site (which he didn't promote or ask people to buy from at all). Safe to say he would've wiped others with a normal release.

However a history making release that still goes #1 is fine to settle with.

Him comparing an album released in 2005 sale climate, put on iTunes, physically available, with a #1 hit backing it, and promotion to an album in 2016 sales climate only available on his site after being downloaded illegally for 2 months.

Imagine what the numbers would have looked like if he actually immediately made the album available for streaming across all platforms instead of keeping Pablo as a Tidal exclusive for more than a month

I don't really see many other artists capable of doing this.
