I had the pleasure once of discussing Madonna with a lovely old couple in my city who had owned and operated their own brick-and-mortar movie store back when we all still had to rent out our feature films. These two, who were both at least seventy-five y/o, loved Evita and couldn't stop fawning over how lovely and marvelous Madonna was in that movie. The man told me he'd silence doubters of La Ciccone's acting abilities back in the day by telling them to buy that picture.
"Buy?," I asked. "Why not rent?"
"Because, young man, there are some films that everyone should own!"
