I also don't really see the 1D similarities - 1D would never do something with a guitar line vamp like that. They're much more flat; EXO's production was dynamic and actually had a pulse to it. Don't get me wrong - it's still pretty western as far as that track goes - but overall I think the mini was distinctly their own.
I think Exo's Run and 1D's Diana + Kiss You sound as if they come from the same vein. The only difference I hear is the ambiance. People hear/perceive music differently, so while I think these three songs could be on the same album, you might not.
1D their work ethic is decent, but it's nothing overly impressive. Their music is primarily made by others so they pretty much have to record their vocals then jump around on stage for a couple of hours every other day.
