So, like the first thirty minutes they got it SO RIGHT. MY ONE TRUE KING SLAYED, they
foreshadowed some Mel/Jon stuff
, they fixed that Cersei/Jaime debacle somewhat, I was cool with Cersei telling Tywin because that's totally something she would do, the Jon/Ygritte scene was beautiful, the Dany scene kinda made me tear up a bit ngl, the Team WingedWolf vs. the wights was cool... until it wasn't. Jojen's death frustrates me since he was bae. Brienne meeting Arya was TRAGIC and Brienne vs. The Hound was hardcore and I don't mind it AT ALL.
Stuff I Didn't Like:
They totally skipped out on the Jaime/Tyrion fight, and I'm suspecting it's because they don't think people would remember Tysha. They didn't portray Shae sympathetically, which the girl was just trying to survive. That moment is supposed to be a What the Hell moment for Tyrion's character, but they totally justified it because D&D have a major hard-on for Peter Dinklage. The Tywin scene was great, barring the fact that TYSHA IS A PERSON THAT EXISTS and we missed out on the wonderful "wherever *****s go" exchange. The Arya scene was fantastic and I love how they put in that she wants to be back with Jon above all. Then of course the LSH ordeal, but I'm repressing that already. Whoever says it's not a needed scene are forgetting just how goddamn revolutionary that reveal was.
Overall, I suppose it was decent. It just encapsulated the fact that this season was absolute TRASH when it came to going off-canon. They used to be fairly decent at it too.
