Maybe because her life was ****** when she was a child that she doesn't want her daughter to feel this way so she focused too much on her daughter and less on her son?
TBH the way her kid threw himself at her and screamed her name proves that he is spoiled by her and loves her so much

most ppl dont even know what the term legend means. so today.. everbody is a legend.. and everyone is a diva etc.
Mariah, just commercially, is a club of 5 other female artists: Madonna, Whitney, Céline, Streisand.
as the only 5 women to have ever sold in excess of 100 million albums/LPs worldwide. NOBODY else did that. And nobody else will do that anymore in the future.
Unlike most artists, she influenced generations to come, as a songwriter, as a vocalist and as a strong woman. She fought for what she wanted in life and what she believed was her right to get: FREEDOM and artistic integrity.
Who in their right minds would leave a commercial formula in 2015, which made you the biggest star on the planet, only to do sth that represents the real you, but which would not sell as much as before.
Mariah had the balls to go against her entire label and management.. against the most powerful man in the busines, hence Mchael Jackson's rant against Tommy Mottola.
Madonna initially thought that Mariah was "bland", a label product without soul to it. And in many ways, she was right and by Mariah's successful fight against her label and husband she actually proved the point. Nevertheless, Madonna had hurt Mariah bc even in her so-called AC days, she still wrote all of her music and put in as much of herself as she was allowed to. Madonna has never been married to the label boss of Warner, she doesnt know what it must be like to be the top selling artist on a major label and the CEO's boss. The pressure must've been immense.
However, this feud that happened after those remarks is buried now, and both ladies are at peace with each other.
Mariah gets so much backlash in the press though, She is singled out all the time for the most biased, unreliable rumours about herself. This also affects other ppl's opinion on her.
Rolling Stone is campaigning against her, the entire media is, ie Rockefeller Center fiasco 2014. It has long become popular to absolute despise and hate and ridicule her. It is THE ONE opinion that is allowed to utter, d'accord with media and public.
So, we now see one Mariah tribute act come along after the other, and still ppl think that she not left any influence on music culture around the world. For the first idk how many seasons of xfactor.. all they wanted in a female was to find the next Mariah. They found one in Leona, however bulding a career on sb else's impact doesn't get you far.
America has Ariana who has not yet presented a single original thought in her career. Not to mention that her entire discography depends on features.
Mariah will get some positive career overviews once she has passed away. But not in the near future, not with the entire entertainment industry against her at the moment.
And even throughout the current struggles, she belongs to the top selling and most popular females around the world.
.-27 million albums sold with original material since 2000
,-20 million US digital tracks sales since 2003
,-2,1 million albums sold in Japan since 2000
,-11,0 million certified albums sales since 2000
,-8 top 10 singles since 2000
,-4 #1 singles since 2000
,-nominee for a NAACP, SAG Award for acting (Precious)
,-Recording Academy Award of Honor (2005)
a decade many would dismiss actually shaped up to be pretty damn awesome.

Ok. Ever since joining this site, I've been stanning Mariah so hard. She was my first queen back in 1995 when I was 4-5 years old. I was obsessed with her, and she is the one who really got me involved in music. Since then it had kind of faded, especially after Kelly came along. Lately, though, I've been getting back into Mariah. She's always been in my heart.
I remember staying up late (like 11pm) to watch music videos of MTV, and I would pray for the Butterfly video to come on. I loved it. I was obsessed with it for some reason. The little gay boy in me must have been just bursting to come out.

aww, @witch_privilege that is a cute story. I must say too that of all artists that Mariah has influenced, Kelly is my favourite. She is so nice and sweet and I love how both of them get along so well. (And we all know that MIMI pretty much lives in Bee's ass and mentions her more and gives her more shine). But Kelly is a true lamb and so talented and never badmouthed her, simply a great human being and I love her music too. Kelly Clarkson is my favourite among all the new mariahs.. a true stand-out artist with a legacy of her own, with the best music and longest, healthiest career among all casting stars who ever made it. Which is why American idol is now looking for the new Kelly cause she set all the records.
Mimi and Kelly this duet needs to happen, + if the song has a rock vibe to it, the better it will be.

If Kelly and Mariah ever did a proper duet together, I would love some amazing R&B/pop/rock style. Imagine a Since U Been Gone meets We Belong Together. Say goodbye to everyone else's faves.

Also, my fave Mariah song is Fantasy. The original, though. The remix is great, but the original is just perfect to me.

Guys - I really have to apologise. I was in a rush leaving work due to a client taking too much time in the final meeting and I never emailed the results across. I COULD quickly pull it together as I only have to add two peoples results and make a couple of small changes but it would be rushed and so wouldn't be fair to any of you. I am SO sorry - I feel awful about it. I promise that I'll get it started tomorrow. Once again, I apologise .

Omg . I'm so sorry. I forgot to email the file across. I'm going to add the final sets to the version I've got at home as that's all that was missing as well as a couple of changed scores. You might as well sleep sis. I promise this will be started tomorrow (during the day as there seems to be more activity then).
