Last night's episode was a bit weak and overall disappointing. But there are 3 episodes left, so there is still hope.
As of right now, Asylum is still the best AHS season. Coven is a close second and Murder House was just bad.

Asylum had waaay too much going on, it was a mess at the end.
So many things were left untold/unexplained.

Only the alien plot was left unexplained and it was supposed to be.

Oh, and that scene with Fiona and Papa Legba was hilarious.

Good god yes, I almost died.
I was watching it at night, in the dark.
I seriously had to pause the show when that thing came on.

I thought this was a pretty good episode.
I'm also one of the few here who thinks Asylum was (miles) better than Coven. Sure, this season has still 3 episodes left, but it just hasn't grabbed me the way Asylum did. I loved the chaotic storylines (and they fitted the concept of the Asylum), the bleakness and dark themes and the way everything played out at the end. The finale episode of that season is actually my favorite of the whole show. I don't know why, but the image of Sister Jude's final moment stuck with me in a powerful way.
Murder House was just ridiculously fun to watch. And I found the first two seasons much 'scarier' than Coven. But that's just my opinion.

Jude's death actually made me a bit emotional and I've hardly ever felt that way about a character before. She was epic, and the character development Coven could never.

What's that supposed to mean? Because I'm certainly not a racist apologist I would rather see Delphine become more open minded and understanding than just be tortured for her choices hundreds of years ago. And yes I know that witches aren't going to be saints but the fact that Marie sacrifices babies yearly makes her the ultimate hypocrite. It also annoyed me seeing her lose all of her edge after the shooting at her salon.

Swap Coven with Murder House and yes. Asylum is a gem which is too sophisticated for some people to understand

Agreed. And the way she became the insane one midway through the season was pretty smart. I just loved the whole season overall.

This last episode gave me life.
All AHS seasons are great in their own way. they're all really different, there's no way to compare them. Although I'll be sad when this season ends due to the fact witchcraft has been an obsession of mine since childhood, I'm ready and excited for the next season. I can't stop wondering what the theme is going to be.

Yeah, there's basically nothing "horror" about Coven. The scariest thing was probably the creature with the bulls head or whatever.
I think overall this season was meant to win back the viewers they lost with Asylum and to bring in new ones. I mean Emma Roberts, Kathy Bates, and Gabourey Sidibe mixed with witchcraft/voodoo is something you really couldn't dislike.

To me personally all three seasons are near perfect. I mean they all have flaws don't get me wrong but each excelled at what it was supposed to do.
Murder house is a great season to start off a show, it was spooky, it had jumpscares, and it was ****ed up to a certain point. The story was interesting and it was something to show what AHS is going to be about. It already showed signs of being extremely brutal and graphic.
Asylum was also great. The thing that I liked the most is the fact that everything took place there (mostly) it felt like you never really get to leave the asylum once you enter. For instance, Lana who came as a reporter became a patient herself and sister Jude who worked there became a patient as well. It went full circle and no matter how much you thought you were done with that place, one way or another you went back. It did have some untied ends and some stuff were a bit left unexplained but I guess that's the madness of it.
Coven is interesting because, in my opinion, it's the first season to have a certain dose of humor in it. Some parts of the show are really funny which I believe takes some of that creepy, scary parts away. That's why when you look at Asylum it's hard to watch, it's constantly gloomy and dark and it's just like watching a horror movie. Coven is more of this bright thing where you can relax and sort of enjoy the fact that you're watching people mutilate each other and whatnot
But I don't believe that it lacks story progress. When you think about it, a lot has happened since the start. The whole Coven got wrecked, everyone turned against each other and it's just another, known AHS mess.

I'm sorry but the 3 old bitches need to die(Fiona, Marie and Madame). They all suck and have no redeeming qualities.
Zoe clearly is the supreme. Once she finds out about Misty and Nan, she will show her true powers. She's a leader and manages to get **** done. Oh and most importantly, PROTECTS the coven.
IF Zoe's not the supreme, Cordelia will be.
I only see Zoe, Cordelia, Misty, Myrtle and Queenie surviving the inevitable the blood bath.

Not Asylum and sophisticated in the same sentence
This is AHS not Breaking Bad.

I don't think they lost that many viewers with Asylum, but you have a point. All of that sounds like a recipe for success and the ratings seem to be good, so I guess it payed off.

For me, it goes: Asylum > Murder House > Coven

Murder House is better than Asylum, at least for me it is. Coven is better than Asylum as well. It was still good, don't get me wrong but Coven is just amazing. It has everything. So sad to see it ending, because it can actually make a great series on its own.

All I want to see is Madison get what's coming to her. That is IT. If she survives this show... she's an awful person and deserves to die brutally. I hope she does something to piss off Marie and she does the same thing she did to Delphine.
