I hate uniform avatars. It's a sign of group mentality and of people all thinking the same and acting the same and all gobbling up anything their fave dishes out, whether or not they truly like it.
that's really good. I would also remove the red color and use the official font (helvetica).
I don't have helvetica on my computer. Would arial work?

I think what I'll end up doing is replicate it in multiple colors and let everyone have their pick. This would also tie into Nicole's suggestion about everyone looking the same and be less restrictive.
