For me it's FAR from being about what the disgusting part of the ATRL members think - It's about such a bland song out-peaking and out-selling her real great tunes.
I'm sure the others who agree with me think the same way.

Generic trash sells on its own. “I Wanna Go” was pretty generic but not generic enough. I hate it when people call “Femme Fatale” generic when, as a whole, it really wasn’t – at least not much. Maybe by her standards.
After the unexpected success of “Scream & Shout,” I’m worried about the direction of her next album. I’m positive everything her team sees now are dollar signs.

I couldn't care less, success is success. And that fact that she is throughout it AND starts the song, rather than being shoehorned to the latter half of a song for 10-15 seconds, makes it okay.
I don't love the song, but I love the success.

It's already sold around 2.7m worldwide. It will sell over 6 million at the very least.

Yeah, Duca's right, it's gonna be her biggest worldwide seller. It won't top BOMT (in terms of chart performance, it WILL likely outsell it) but it kinda already has topped every other single (including Oops). Of course, this is all statistically and obviously not culturally.
BOMT sold 6-7 million WW, right?
This one will probably do 7-8 million. Digital sales are WAY higher than physical sales ever were. "Moves Like Jagger" has sold like 12 million worldwide, and I can only imagine what "I Gotta Feeling" or "Party Rock Anthem" have done - probably over 14 million each.

Didn't BOMT sell over 9 million?

I don't think it will be her best seller yet, it's not selling in the US strongly enough. I think it will end up with 5.5m-6m copies sold worldwide.
BOMT should be around 10m I would say.

The only country in which it won't become her bestselling single for sure is the UK. It could become her bestselling single in the States. Party songs such as “Scream & Shout” are good catalog sellers there.

It sold 7-7.5 million. The 9 million figure is based on its 9 million points at Mediatraffic and points =/= sales.

It will sell between 5 to 6 million when all is said and done. I don't see it goin more than 2x Platinum in the US.
The reason MLJ and PRA have sold so much worldwide is because Nearly half of MLJ's total, and more than half of PRA's total comes from the US.
Scream & Shout will go 3x Platinum at best

lol. S&S is not stopping at 3xP in the US. It's going to the Top 3 in airplay and it'll be around in a big way for the next 2 months. Bet on that.

LMAO, IKR?
I can't at some people thinking it could sell up to 8 million worldwide when the US total, even after the holidays, isn't even close to 2 million yet.

I wouldn't bet one cent on that, but let's hope you're right, considering S&S is "flopping" in the US when we compare its run there to the other countries.

It's selling consistently in the US. It's far from flopping or underperforming.

lol the "holidays" for the digital chart are right now....after Christmas, not before.
I don't mean this in a rude way but most of us Britney fans have almost completely forgot how a true smash single charts, lol. The norm over the past 5 years has become "peak in week 1 and pray for "longevity", which in Britney terms is like 2-3 months....when in reality for actual big smashes it's like 4-5 months. Everything up to this point shows that S&S is trending like a true, major smash; not a "Britney smash". This song isn't gonna disappear for a long time.

If it goes #1...
Well, if it went #1, I'd **** myself with joy. Then some fans would cry about the fact that it was S&S and not a typical Britney single. A #1 is a #1.
And, besides, how great is it to start an era after having a huge smash?! We can be like the Madonna stans and claim that S&S was the lead to album 8 like they claimed Die Another Day was the lead to American Life.
And, yes, Jennifer is right. A smash single doesn't stay around for 2-3 months, more like 6 months so I predict you'll be hearing this song on your station until around April or May.

If you wanna sell over 4 million in the US you need more than "consistency".
And I didn't say it is flopping... Not on the proper meaning of the word when it comes to the charts.
