Santorum. Aside from Michele Bachmann, the most insane person to run for President this decade and probably the last. I was terrified at the start of last years election season.
Santorum is such a waste of a candidate. He might be halfway decent if he wasn't a fundamental nuthead (I mean, I probably still wouldn't trust him to run the country, but at least his good points wouldn't be so overshadowed by his pile of ****, y'know?)
Him dragging Romney on giving prisoners the right to vote might actually be my favorite part of the 2012 election season.
I'd rather vote for a Republican than give my vote to a socialist if I was an American. Chavez brought the idea of socialism in a similar way Bernie is doing, except he was younger, more charismatic, had military background and was smart. Bright enough to sell all these massive changes as 'Revolution'.
One that bankrupt our country 15 years into it. One of the richest countries in the world, you can't find a single chicken in the market to feed your families. You have to stand in lines for up to 8 hours to get ONE package of toilet paper, one can of oil and maybe some rice or flour.
When we elected Chavez, no one in a MILLION years fathomed this would happen to us, Cuba was a distant, horrible fairy tale.
Honestly, this is a valuable viewpoint and I wish more people from other countries would weigh in on the US elections. These perspectives are important.
Additionally, I want more people in the US to start actively looking at global politics. Following Yulia Tymoshenko's life and political career in Ukraine, as a random example, has been one of the most interesting things ever for me.

The Republican nominees have been so bad this and the past election. Like John McCain was a good and decent man before he became an insane war hawk and unleashed the Tea Party kraken on the United States by validating Sarah Palin.

~ The media can be very wrong, yes - but in this case, the media's conclusion can become almost a self-fulfilling prophecy. Some of the most read articles all day were those proclaiming Hillary as the victor of the debate, and that will influence people.
I don't disagree with this statement, especially the bolded, in fact I intended (and apparently failed) to imply that when I said they "repeat and/or wish things into existence" in the post you quoted. This is probably where we'll disagree since no Clinton supporter so far has addressed my question regarding whether you guys believe or disbelieve the notion that the mainstream media has any stake in who gets elected and/or ulterior motives as to how they frame certain events in their coverage*, but it's definitely my belief that they know the influence they have, waning though it may be (since TV doesn't completely dominate media like it did a decade ago), and are attempting to exploit that right now with the ubiquity of headlines like "Hillary dominated" and "Hillary eclipsed Bernie" to help hammer that idea into the minds of their viewers.
* Feel free to disagree as this is anecdotal, but everyone I know who watched the debate (in my early 20s circle, in the blue state of NY) either thinks Bernie won and Hillary still held tough, or Hillary won and Bernie also did well with a little improvement for O'Malley too. This is also the general sentiment I've been getting from people online, ruling out people I deem to be Bernie OR Hillary stans based on past statements. Few if anyone thinks Bernie stomped Hillary, but few PEOPLE (real, regular people, not Washington insiders) say Hillary did the same to him. Yet, that's how the overwhelming majority of headlines and media coverage is reading. That's my definition of how they're framing these events to suit their agenda.

I agree. When Rick Perry (RIP) is one of the best candidates on your side...well...
The McCain campaign was such a mess. There were a lot of Democrats who were planning on voting for him because of how willing he was to reach across the aisle and then he just swung to the right. It was insane.
And Mitt Romney's campaign was just He probably could have won if he didn't come across like a stuffy rich person who had never met someone with an income below 500k.
Anyone who expects the media to be unbiased is incredibly naive. Please don't just form your opinions because some anchors said something. They are paid to read a script not research the issues.
Let me tell y'all something. Hillary Clinton was raised under Maya Angelou honey, she is a phenomenal woman. Still she rise. Let me tell y'all something about Hillary Clinton. Maya Angelou taught her how to do this *recites Phenomenal Woman*. ... 11 years, you sacrificed and he was gone leave you at the drop of dime. You swallowed your tears and stood by his side. Yeah you should've left his ass 1,000 times, but you know what? You are a STRONG independent black woman. You stood in that, Hillary. You stood in the trenches. And now you're about the be the President of the United States of America

!!!!
It's not surprising though. People on here take the media's word for everything.

I already had my opinions before the media had theirs. I said Hilary slayed way before the media echoed my sentiments. Bernie was clearly unprepared and it showed but even then he still shined despite being unprepared. He also wasn't paying attention to everything people were saying. He basically was tuning out Jim Webb.

Mitt and McCain both changed their positions to positions that were out of step with the American public. That's not going to fly. People can accept you changing your opinion to the right opinion. What they won't accept is you changing your opinion to the wrong opinion. Instead of McCain delegitimizing Sarah Palin after the elections he let that monster become uncontrollable and now no one in the Republican party can stop it until they lose badly enough they have no other choice. The Democrats didn't help things by expecting too much change too fast. Instead of voting they stayed home and now we are in a situation where congress will be paralyzed to fix any of our problems for the foreseeable future thanks to Gerrymandering that happened in 2010. I'd like all purple everywhere TBQH. I feel like our constitution needs an update.
I don't get why people think pundits are always trying to forward their own agenda (not including those with historically-biased articles/corporate backings). They're people who study policy for a living, I'd trust their word over a stranger's on the internet. But that's none of my business.
On an unrelated note, has there EVER been an answer in a democratic debate as bad as Chafees "my dad just died, idk" one? It's already iconic among the people I talk to and some online news shows I listen to, like... Was that just a miscalculation and he expected sympathy or something, or was he THAT taken off guard that that was the best answer he could come up with?
The political version of "some uh, people out there don't have maps in the US and the Iraq, and such as"
I mean, I actually understand where Lincoln Chafee was coming from. His dad died and he wasn't in a good state of mind, on top of the fact that he was appointed to the position so he perhaps wasn't ready for it. But it's still not an appropriate answer to give when asked on why you voted for something.

It was ironic to me because the same thing happened to Assad in Syria.

He should've just said he thought it was the right thing to do at the time and that he'd take that vote away if he could.
My problem with Bernie is that he is disingenuous about he'll pay for his plans. The top 10% of American wage earners already pay 85% of taxes. He claims free college will be paid by a magical tax on Wall Street speculation. Will a tax really pay $50,000 tuition for everyone who wants one? Plus he wants us to be like Denmark , but fails to say they pay like 25% in federal taxes, before state and other taxes. He can't tax the rich and not the middle class and expect t pay for these programs.
