But that can't be true! Her fame is slowly declining!
It's only going to be 3x platinum because of ALL THE HYPE! I HAD LIKE HELICOPTERS FLYING OVER MY HOUSE AND PROMOTING IT!!!

Very true It's just hard whenever I come on here and it's 18 pages of OMG BTW DIDNT SELL 500k IN THE US THIS WEEK!
I'm over it. I love this site cause you get the deets before most people and there are some interesting conversations but I just feel like people need to stop acting like the album/this era is a failure. For us, it may seem that way cause we are looking at every week of sales, every youtube view, every radio spin etc but the general public knows that homegirl sold over a million first week, is slaying their favs, and has a song on the radio that redeemed faith in a lot of people.

Sales reflect the interest of the general public.

I don't think this era was a failure, just kind of a disappointment in some aspects.

Sure, the drops will be less severe once she promotes again in the US. But it's almost like beating a dead horse. The general public has spoken and they are not interested in this album. They don't want some bitch who owes everything to a drastic and gimmicky change of sound/image to patronize them and tell them it's OK to embrace being born this way.
She needs to pull a Rihanna/Rated R and save face by quickly moving on to a new era. She needs to rearrange her priorities, go back to the drawing board, look back at why she's here in the first place, and let the experts take over what she proved she herself cannot handle.

I agree with about half of what you said.
I would like an image change. I really would. I would enjoy less drama. I would enjoy her smiling during performances. I would enjoy a blend of BTW and TF era GaGa. Is that going to happen this album cycle? No. Will it happen next album cycle? Maybe, depending on how poorly the album does.
However, I really do think that you're over reacting. Yeah, and I know I can't change your own beliefs, and to be honest your concerns are tangible.
But I think she's fine. We need a good execution of singles and good promo.

As if she herself chooses every step of the way in the way the album works out. We're not even half way through probably one of the longest eras of pop music. Take a chill pill.

And the album is in it's what, 6th week and it's still in the top 10. Whats your point? A shitload of people ran out and got it first week. We knew a drop was coming.

I don't think so, unless it just displays some incredibly longevity, but it should get somewhere between 3.5m and that.

Well one would hope it would still in the Top 10 at this point, that's no mean feat. Of course it was going to see a harsh drop-off at first, but it desperately needs to stabilize and fast.
I'll be the first to shrug off premature hysterics. I thought it was silly to freak out about TEOG's radio updates when it was still posting healthy spin increases, but you have to look at everything objectively. I'm not saying it's possible for the sales trajectory to turn around, but the picture we have before us right now isn't pretty.

I guess I just don't see everything as bad as everyone else, but I'm no sales expert like a lot of people here are so whatever.
I just feel like if honestly it's in danger Interscope would do something. Say what you want about GaGa getting egotistical but she's obviously made them happy so far so she's doing something right and when worst comes to worst she's still in contract. She still has a boss. If she's honestly on her way to ruining ~everything~ like some people are saying I have no doubt they will leash her back in.

I'm always hoping for the best. I think that her label will be able to realize how we are now entering a critical point of the albums significance.

There is nothing to be done. If people don't want to buy a product, they will not buy it.

I guess we'll know once the next video director is announced.
I'm not on the "she's ruining her career" bandwagon, though I hope Troy & Company exercise some savvy.

There are no other singles on the album that are gonna sustain the album in the US. If the album keeps sliding down like it is, they'll more than likely ready a re-release for the holidays. GaGa is always writing.....

lol people wanted it, it's why it's sold so much. It's not flying off the shelves now because they already bought it. How much has she sold in the US so far? Excluding Adele (who I love, but convinced is a complete fad right now and will disappear commercially in the US by the time the Grammys are over) who has come close to her numbers?
